Menya Shi-Shi Do (Lot 100 P2.039, The School Jaya One, No 72A, Jalan Universiti, 46200 Petaling Jaya, Selangor). I stayed in Japan for about four years (for my studies), and I can honestly say it is difficult to find a good ramen stall in Malaysia. It is either a broth base that is too overwhelming or ramen noodles that does not taste like the original noodles you will get in Japan. Well, all that changed with a recent trip to Menya Shi-Shi Do, a busy restaurant located inside The School Jaya One. For the first time in a long time, I enjoyed my ramen. And I have to thank the chefs at Menya Shi-Shi Do for this. Their noodles are as authentic as you can get in Japan, and their broth just nice. We had the Shiro ramen (ramen in pork broth) (below). If you are looking for traditional dim sum breakfast, there is a good place at Loong Seng dim sum restaurant at 50, Jalan SS 2/66, SS 2, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The selection of food available here are good, taste is also good and with reasonable prices. When I eat here, I would not go back feeling underwhelmed. One of my favourite places for dim sum. Give it a try. Porridge, rich and tasty without being overbearing. A wide variety of dim sum is available. You will not run out of choices. Crispy taro puffs (woo kok). Nice flavour and appetising. Char siu bun. One of my children's favourite. Delicious!    

The recent water disruption fiasco at Petaling Jaya caused us to flee to Seremban for a weekend reprieve. My old friend brought us around favourite eating spots at Seremban. The first one was the Bee Kee Restaurant (21A, Jalan Temiang, Seremban, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan).     We had a scrumptious dinner of salted egg prawns, 1/2 barbeque crispy duck, tong po meat, stir fried vegetable, fried midin and 'cha wang' tea with rice for five adults. All of which costs about RM160. A steal if compared to prices in Kuala Lumpur, and of course, the food was good. Salted egg prawn; fresh prawns well seasoned with salted egg. I like that I did not get any reaction to these prawns. I surmised the prawns they used did not have any chemical residues (e.g. antibiotics etc). Sometimes when you want something to remind you of home but is too much of a hassle to cook it yourself, visit Aunty Melon Home Cooking SS2 (Address: 26, Jalan SS 2/24, SS 2, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor). It is a quaint little restaurant that serves home cooked meals. Their business hours (update - they are now opened for breakfast from 8.30 am onwards i.e. 8.30am-3.00pm and 6.00pm-9.00pm): Their selection is quite appetising, and their portions are suitable for two persons. If a family of four is there, you can try more variety. Their food is delicious and reasonably priced, and their service was prompt and courteous. We have found a nice place to eat, and will definitely go there again.  The menu below is only one of two pages. The other page is mostly soups. The pictures here looked so good, that i totally forgot to take the other page (update: managed to take the other page on our next visit). We tried their ginger and vinegar pork trotter.
